I CHOSE THE NAME BEFORE BE EVEN ANNOUNCED HIS SHOW
For 17 straight years, I have been dead. Today is the first day I've lived.
Don't prank your brother on Christmas is a classic that has gone under the radar for far too long. It has deep undertones unmatched by even the writing genius of Bluey, as showcased by the stellar contents of the animation. For starters, listen to the sound the snow makes on Christmas Day; it sounds like jingling money, representing how you jingle your money at Black Friday to rush to buy presents. Not to mention the quality of the animation, which I believe is purposefully crude to give an avant garde sense of irreverence. Basically the spiritual successor to 12 oz mouse.
Off to a great start, we have entered the house housing these mysterious children. Notice their unblinking stares. I believe this is a analogue towards how consumerism dulls your senses, their sense of sight is hampered. Suddenly, the humble sister betrays her brother by giving him a present with a pie rigged to hit his face. This represents how feeble the concept of trust is and how easily it can be betrayed, even by your closest peers. In his most vulnerable state, the boy has his undying trust in his sister shattered. Perchance.
Curiously, almost as if expecting this outcome, his face turns angry even before the pie hits him. As the boy stews in his perdicament, he girl laughs a stone cold and shrill laugh. Just reveling in the boy's hatred of her in that moment. The boy seethes and concedes into the loving arms of their mother; exacting his revenge in the most cruel way. (tattling)
The mother stands looking out the window. She thinks of a time where she didn't have to dabble in the quabbles of her offspring.. a simpler time. As she thought that thought, her thought was interrupted by the boy's sudden thought. "Mom."
As she turns around, she sees her beloved son covered in pie coagulate. She knows something horrible must have happened to him, as evidenced by his offish demeanor. She listens to her son; hearing him out fully before springing into action.
"She pranked me with a pie in a box."
These were the words that finally flipped the mother's lid. As swiftly as a bonobo killing a snake, she walks into the room where her daughter resides.
The sister, as soon as seeing her mom enter, knows now that she is in some big trouble. Still unblinking, they both converse. "Why did you prank your brother with a pie in a box?"
The question rings out in an immaculate inflection, a question that even the most astute philosophers have trouble answering in good faith. It questions the most basic framework of the human mind; the human mind's motivation to prank with pies. Perchance.
I believe the pie prank is a microcosm for consumerism. Anyone who accepts an offer is only met with swindlement and disappointment; the big picture being that life's happiness is simply fleeting and more often than not, will be plundered by those you once trusted.
The girl is clearly familiar with this thought and how futile coming up with a valid response to it truly is. She comes up with a dummy reply, hoping her maternal figure is satisified with the answer.
"Because it was funny."
This loaded behemoth of a statement delves into several different topics that are out of the scope of this review. Of course, the mother, wiser and older than her daughter, sees through her clever trick. Almost like a bullet train she quickly comes up with a plan to punish her child. She gives her another box from out of nowhere that low and behold, had a pie in it rigged to explode in her face. The girl accepts her fate as she opens the box knowing full well what will happen next. Her expression does not even flinch when the pie impacts her face. This is truly a masterpiece. A once-in-a-lifetime sight that I would think to see in a museum or at the Oscars...not free to watch online on Newgrounds.
Props to you, baroldbilly, for making this stone-hearted seasoned 11 year old finally shed the first tear in his lifetime.
I'll be eagerly waiting for whatever you come up with next. Perchance.
Wow, what an incredibly long message, i'm glad you liked my animation, but sorry, i will never set a price, charge anyone to watch this animation and this animation will always be free to watch, If you want to see more animations, go to my Youtube channel, and you'll see all of my animations, I've created and you'll love my animations.
not such a fan of the reupload...despite the additions, i prefer the original as it worked better as its own funny short lil thing
yeahh, I respect. My original plan was to release these into separate mini-episodes as they were being made, and releasing the full extended version with the ending scene as a surprise. But because of school the production got halted on the second episode which ruined my release plan. Now that everything is completed, I just wanted to release em all in one go to get it out there
i am going fucking insane
why doesnt timblim die????? worst movie ever
I'm sorry, I've let everyone down
shinji is a more likable character in every one of these segments than in the entirety of the original anime
Swag
i like it :)
not a fan of the flashing lights at the end though :(
Whoops! I didn't think about an epilepsy warning or anything-- I swiped that idea from the "Herculoids" intro.
Some people, honestly.
